Recently, Symantec received some malicious files which appeared to be signed by “Adobe Systems Incorporated”. On closer inspection, however, it was seen that the signature was just a ruse used by the malware author to give an air of legitimacy to the files.

Since as far back as I can remember there has always been talk of rivalry and wars between various malware creators. The testosterone-fuelled battles may have even been encouraged by the media running stories of how such-and-such botnet “has X million nodes,” egging the botnet herders to try and outwit and outgrow each other in a competition to grab market share.
The Chinese New Year is known to be the most important holiday of the year in Chinese society. The Chinese lunar calendar determines the Chinese New Year date, and this year the day falls on February 14, which of course is the same day as Valentine’s Day! Traditionally, Chinese people start cleaning up their homes prior to the Chinese New Year’s eve.
